Abstract

This study explores the concept of God in Judaism, Christianity and Islam, emphasizing their common belief that God is the creator and sustainer of the universe. The study consists of authentic religious texts from Hebrew Bible, New Testament, Qur’an and Hadith to explore how each faith articulates God’s nature, relationship with humanity and attributes. Although all three faiths believe on a creator and sustainer God, however significant distinctions exist, specifically the nature of Jesus and Christian doctrine of trinity. Islam has a strict concept of one God, rejecting the belief of trinity. Judaism has refined its one God concept through Islamic teachings. Common themes such as mercy, omnipotence, role of revelation are base for developing interfaith dialogue. This is a qualitative research which is based on secondary sources like books, articles and online sources. There are theological differences among the three Abrahamic faiths, however all religions believe on a creator and sustainer God of the universe.
