Maqasid Al-Shariah (Objectives of Islamic Law) is an evidently important theme. Generally, the Shariah is predicated on the benefits of the individual and that of the community, and its laws are designed so as to protect these benefits and facilitate improvement and perfection of the conditions of human life. It seeks man's material and intellectual evolution, moral elevation, and spiritual purity. Present-day theories have made a fundamental mistake in understanding man. He considers man to be only a material and rational entity. Islam has given as much emphasis on the physical and rational existence of man as it has on moral and spiritual existence. That is why Islam has the concept of a multi-faceted and universal.
