Islamic Approaches to Anxiety in AI Era: Lessons from Prophet Muhammad’s Life

In modern times, anxiety and stress are very common because of social environment. Statistics show that there are a large number of people suffering from anxiety and stress all over the world and this number is constantly increasing. People suffer from anxiety and stress whether they are successful or facing failures in their lives. Both of these disrupt the daily life of a man and put a negative impact on his personality.Today, psychiatrists suggest many techniques to reduce anxiety and stress like meditation, sports, healthy diet, breathing exercises, mindfulness, physical activities, sleeping well and avoiding loneliness. Spiritually is one of them, because the main goal of spiritually is inside purification and inner satisfaction. Islam, because of its spiritual and natural perspective, gives help to spend a healthy life. Its teachings and practices are cause for better lifestyle and prevention of numerous diseases. Islam gives techniques to avoid anxiety and stress. Islam tells that peace of mind and heart is in the remembrance of Almighty Allah. Almighty Allah says in the Holy Quran: “Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of Allah. Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah, hearts are assured”. In this article, we discuss the causes of anxiety and stress, their effects on human physical and mental health and their treatment in Islamic perspective.
