Exegetical Differences in Asbāb al-Nuzūl and Their Resolution: A Scholarly and Analytical Study

Abstract

The study of Asbāb al-Nuzūl (occasions of revelation) is essential for understanding the contextual meanings of Quranic verses. However, interpretative differences among scholars have led to varying perspectives in Tafsir, sometimes resulting in contradictions and inconsistencies. These differences arise due to variations in transmitted reports, methodological approaches, linguistic interpretations, and sectarian viewpoints.

This research critically examines the causes of these exegetical disagreements and explores viable solutions to address them. It highlights the significance of verifying the authenticity of narrations, adopting a balanced methodology that integrates classical and modern hermeneutical approaches, and ensuring contextual coherence in interpretation.
